Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant’s primary responsibility is managing the company’s Accounts Receivables, starting with project billing, and then supervising the overall collection process. The Staff Accountant acts as a liaison between the accounting department and the company’s project managers and ensures proper lanes of communication between the two groups. Additionally, the Staff Accountant is responsible for project cost analysis and reporting, as well as other general accounting procedures, such as posting journal entries and account analysis.  

  •  35% Monthly AIA billings, processing of lien waivers
  • 35% – Ongoing job cost analysis, monitoring expenses for timely correction of unusual trends or issues. 
  • 10% Cash collection.
  • 5% – Review/prepare various monthly journal entries  
  • 10% – Reconcile various vendor statements and post invoices
  • 5% – Other duties, as assigned

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of office administration, clerical procedures, and recordkeeping systems.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or related field
  • Understand and follow GAAP
  • 3+ years experience in Accounting
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word/Excel)
  • High Proficiency in Accounting software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Construction Billing (AIA)
  • Knowledge of construction industry practices and terminology
