Position Summary

The MEP Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of all field activities across active construction projects. This role leads trade superintendents, drives labor optimization across projects, maintains overall schedule health, and ensures consistent execution of safety, quality, and production standards.

This individual serves as the primary field escalation point, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact project performance.

Core Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and manage trade superintendents across all active projects
  • Set expectations, conduct weekly performance check-ins, and develop field leadership talent
  • Enforce accountability to field leadership standards and expanded authority expectations

Production & Labor Optimization

  • Drive cross-project labor allocation and rebalancing based on schedule priorities
  • Maximize labor utilization, minimize downtime, and improve mobilization efficiency
  • Lead weekly production review meetings with all trade superintendents

Schedule & Project Oversight

  • Maintain a consolidated view of all project schedules across the portfolio
  • Identify at-risk projects daily and implement recovery plans
  • Ensure projects stay on schedule and production goals are met

Field Operations Excellence

  • Own and enforce field standards for:
  • Safety
  • Quality
  • Production planning
  • GC/client communication
  • Monitor quality metrics and ensure superintendent-led quality programs are executed effectively

Escalation & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for field issues
  • Triage and resolve project risks before executive involvement is required
  • Partner with Senior MEP Project Managers to resolve multi-trade conflicts and resource challenges

Site Presence

  • Conduct regular site visits across all active projects (target: bi-weekly per site)
  • Ensure alignment between field execution and company standards 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in construction field leadership (MEP preferred)
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects and field teams simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, labor planning, and production tracking
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop field leaders
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience overseeing multi-trade (MEP) construction projects
  • Background in large-scale commercial or industrial construction
  • Familiarity with project management and scheduling software
